the rifle manufactured in 1912, with reblued round 20in. barrel marked 'MANUFACTURED BY THE WINCHESTER REPEATING ARMS CO., NEW HAVEN CONN. USA, PATENTED AUGUST 21ST 1894', block and blade fore-sight, elevating ladder 'carbine' rear-sight, brushed bright receiver profusely engraved with floral scrollwork and featuring gamescenes of North American prey animals inlaid in gold and engraved, brushed bright bolt, colour hardened hammer (colour faded), the top-tang marked 'MODEL 1894 WINCHESTER' and 'TRADE MARK REG IN US PAT. OFF.', chequered highly figured American walnut butt-stock with blued and engraved carbine heel-plate, blued and engraved finger-lever, highly figured chequered walnut fore-end with blued and engraved barrel-band, full-length magazine tube and engraved nose-band, together with a magazine article on the vendor and his relationship with the engraver and a black abs plastic travel case
